Shielded Metal Arc Welding, (S.M.A.W.), also known as STICK

This is the beginning step to becoming a good welder.  Students are introduced to the standards and codes being used worldwide.  Stick welding uses a flux-covered electrode and is the most versatile in terms of job-site accessibility.  We offer training and testing to T.S.S.A. and C.W.B. Certification in STICK.

Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (G.T.A.W.), also known as TIG

TIG requires the most skill.  It is the purest and highest quality weld.  TIG is the only welding process which can be used on all metals and alloys and is the main type of welding used in the tool and die trade.  Therefore, TIG certification provides many additional opportunities for employment.  We offer training and testing to T.S.S.A. Certification in TIG.

Gas Metal Arc Welding, (G.M.A.W.), or MIG

MIG is the easiest welding process to learn.  It is used mostly in production welding.  In combination with STICK and TIG it is a necessary skill as most companies use a combination of all 3 processes.  With the development of more sophisticated wires like Metal Cored and Flux Cored the capabilities of MIG are greatly expanding and it is taking over in shop procedures.  We offer training and testing to C.W.B. Certification in MCAW/FCAW.

In addition to welding it is essential for a welder to be able to cut and fit the pieces that will be welded together.  Welding as a skill on its own is not enough.  Employers require versatility.  For this reason we teach both manual and semi-automatic torches and basic blueprint reading and fitting skills for welders.
